Program
Cooperative education in engineering incorporates a paid, supervised work experience component into the engineering degree program. Co-op students gain valuable experience through full-time employment during work terms sequenced with academic terms.
The University of Alberta’s Engineering Co-op students comprise approximately 40% of Engineering students beyond first year.
The cooperative degree requires five years:
- In addition to eight, four-month terms of full-time study, students complete five, four-month work terms
- These consist of full-time, paid employment in a position related to their field of study
